Course Information
This course is suitable for learners wishing to become qualified electricians and have previously gained a level 2 qualification in Electrical Installations.
When joining the programme, a tutor is assigned to assist you in developing both your Individual Action Plan and the structure of an evidence portfolio, enabling study time to be effectively managed.
What Will I Learn?
You will study seven units, which are: Understanding environmental legislation, working practices and principles; Planning, preparing and designing electrical installations; Electrical installation craft skills; Inspection, testing, commissioning and certification of electro-technical systems and equipment; Diagnosing and correcting electrical faults; Electrical Science and Principles; Requirements of BS7671:2008 ‘2011’ and its application to electrical installation.
Entry Requirements
You will have achieved a level 2 qualification in Electrical Installation plus pass an entry test.
Assessment
You will be assessed through practical assessments, theory assignments and on-screen examinations.

Career Progression
- This qualification is a recognised technical qualification for electricians and the natural progression on completion of this course would be to study ‘initial verification and certification of electrical installations’ and ‘periodic inspection, testing and certification of electrical installations’.
