Course Information
This is a one year course for learners who have successfully completed the Level 1 Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery.
What Will I Learn?
The Diploma Level 2 is part of the Foundation Modern Apprenticeship framework (Technical Certificate). For the Diploma Level 2 learners will carry out: • Carcassing for floors and roofing, • Erecting and dismantling basic working platforms (scaffolding), • First and second fixing, • Storing materials and equipment, • Using portable hand tools and working efficiently.
Learners are also required to undertake the Construction Site Safety test, an on-line exam which will enable you to gain the Site Safety (CSCS) card.
Entry Requirements
You will require to have successfully completed the Level 1 Diploma. You will be invited to attend an interview, and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy, to establish any support required.
Assessment
You will be assessed by completion of a range of practical tasks, projects and written assignments and produce a portfolio of evidence. External on-line examinations will be completed as well as the CSCS Health and Safety exam.

Notes
Purchase of steel toe capped boots, overalls and a course text book is required for this course. Please discuss this at interview stage with a tutor after you have applied.

Career Progression
- Successful completion of this course will allow you to progress onto the Modern apprenticeship which involves the Level 3 Diploma and NVQ Level 2 if you are employed.
