A Level History helps you develop skills with which to study the past and then make judgments about History but also current world affairs
History is highly regarded by universities and employers enabling learners to develop research, analysis, synthesis and evaluation skills.
What Will I Learn?
The AS course is divided into two separate modules:
Module 1 covers - Politics & Government in Wales and England, 1780-1832 and Economic & Social Change and Popular Protest, 1815-1848. Module 2 focuses on The Third Reich, 1933–1945.
The A2 in the second year of study also covers two modules one of which is a piece of coursework of approx. 4,000 words. This is worth 20% of the final mark and is submitted in March of the A2 year.
The final module covers topics drawn from British history and European history. These are examined at the end of the A2 year.
Entry Requirements
You will require 5 GCSEs at Grades A*- C including English/Welsh Language and History.
You will be invited to attend an interview, and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy, to establish any support required.
Assessment
You will be assessed by 80% examination and 20% coursework.
