Course Information
This Level 2 Diploma is a work related course with a varied mix of practical and academic work related to the electronic/electrical industry. You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. The course covers the basic knowledge and technical practical skills, providing a good foundation for future career opportunities, or progression onto a more advanced work-related qualification.
You will also study a unit from the NVQ Level 1 Certificate in Performing Engineering Operations, to supplement your theoretical studies.
What Will I Learn?
The Level 2 Diploma is made up of the following units:
Engineering environment awareness, Engineering techniques, Engineering principles, Electrical and electronic principles, Electrical and electronic testing methods, Electrical and electronic systems and devices
The NVQ level 1unit is “Assembling Electronic Circuits”.
Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs at grades A*- D including Maths/Numeracy, English/Welsh & Science. Alternatively, a Level 1 qualification with the appropriate selection of units.
You will be invited to attend an interview, and will undertake an assessment in literacy and numeracy, to establish any support required.
Assessment
The course is assessed by a range of methods, including an on line exam, practical projects, assignments, case studies and course work. Your exam and portfolio will be graded with an overall grade for the qualification awarded.

Career Progression
- On successful completion of this course you will have the opportunity to progress onto a level 3 Diploma/Subsidiary Diploma in Engineering, but is subject to a grading board and interview. Many learners have gained apprenticeships following the successful completion of this course.
