The lifestyle choices and changes we make all mean more opportunities for sports, leisure and healthy living professionals. Whatever your sport, sporting interest or lifestyle choice, we can help you on your way by:
• developing your own knowledge and expertise
• offering you sport and performance management experience
• helping you carve a career from your hobby or passion.
During your course you will spend your time learning about fitness training and programming, physiology, sports coaching, development and nutrition as well as improving your practical skills on the field and in the gym.
You will have the chance to take part in a variety of practical training sessions, role play and sporting events. You will have the opportunity to go on outdoor and adventurous activity visits (both inside and outside of the UK), volunteer at sports development festivals and observe sessions delivered by elite coaches. Visits from a wide range of experts from the sports industry can give you an insight into the day to day work of the professionals in your chosen area.
Alongside our core academic courses, we also host a variety of sporting academies:
The Cardiff Blues (North) Academy. Our reputation has grown over the last few years with Coleg y Cymoedd continually reaching and winning a number of finals. A high percentage of our players have won caps for Wales under 20s, with some even captaining the team! This season former players have had full Welsh caps.
Rugby League Academy. This Academy has come to fruition through the commitment of the Wales Rugby League and the college to provide an environment for talented Welsh Rugby League players to receive both educational qualifications and the highest standard of training.
Welsh Elite Female Football Academy. The Football Association of Wales has teamed up with the college to launch an elite female football academy. The learners from all parts of the country will combine daily coaching sessions with full time study. Many of our players have played for Wales.
Football Academy. Our Football Academy has been set up in partnership with Cambrian & Clydach Vale BGC. Training, gym sessions and weekly games are available for all learners. A number of our learners have achieved Wales honours.
