  • Aged 19+
  • Living in Wales

Plus, one of the following:

  • Employed (inc. agency & zero hour contracts)
  • Self-employed
  • Full-time carer
  • Prisoner on day release

Entry requirements

  • Good level of literacy and communication skills
  • Basic understanding of construction or housing is helpful
  • Suitable for housing officers, customer service staff, and advisors in the energy or retrofit sector
  • No formal qualifications required, though previous industry experience is an advantage

Assessment

  • Online multiple choice knowledge tests
  • Assignments and practical tasks based on case studies
  • Evidence of skills and understanding collected in a portfolio

Career progression

  • Qualifies learners to work as a Retrofit Advisor under PAS 2035
  • Can lead to further training as a Retrofit Assessor or Coordinator (level 4 or 5)
  • Supports career development in housing, sustainability, or energy efficiency roles

Overview

This qualification is aimed at learners who are interested in becoming a Retrofit Advisor within the Construction industry. It is also aimed at upskilling existing employees within the Construction industry.

What will I learn?

This qualification teaches you how to help homeowners or landlords improve the energy efficiency of existing homes. The course prepares you to understand buildings, identify energy problems, and recommend upgrades that reduce energy use, carbon emissions, and energy bills.

Entry requirements

Candidates must have the potential and opportunity to gain the qualification successfully.

Assessment

Assessment is completed via:

  • Assignment
  • Presentation
  • Interview

Candidates must:

  • Successfully complete one assignment for Unit 301 and one assignment for Unit 304
  • Successfully complete one synoptic assignment for Units 302 and 303

The assessment for units 301 and 304 must take place under supervised conditions. The assessment of Tasks A and B for the synoptic assignment (units 302 and 303) must also take place under supervised conditions.

Career progression

The Retrofit Advisor qualification supports progression for learners looking to progress further into the roles of Retrofit Assessor and Retrofit Coordinator. The skills developed through this qualification are also transferable into other construction areas.
