Overview

The RTITB Counterbalance operator training aims to provide delegates with a thorough understanding of the hazards associated with operating counterbalance fork trucks. Learners attending this course will develop a working knowledge of how the various machines operate and to identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions, including weight limits, and to carry out an effective pre use check. On completion of the RTITB course, you will receive a E-Card and PDF Certificate.

What will I learn?

  • Responsibilities under the Health and Safety Act, 1974, PUWER 98 & LOLER 98
  • Operators Safety code
  • Re-charging of Diesel, Gas or Electric Counterbalance Forklift
  • Pre-use checks
  • Factors affecting stability
  • Motivate and hydraulic controls of the Counterbalance Forklift
  • Manoeuvring the Forklift Truck in open and confined areas
  • Stacking at different levels
  • De-stacking with laden and un-laden pallets
  • Working in and out of racking with the Counterbalance Forklift

  • Aged 19+
  • Living in Wales

Plus, one of the following:

  • Employed (inc. agency & zero hour contracts), earning under £34,303
  • Self-employed, earning under £34,303
  • Full-time carer, earning under £34,303
  • Prisoner on day release

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. The course is suitable for those with little or no prior experience operating a Counterbalance Forklift.

Assessment

This course will be assessed by a theory assessment and basic operator skills test.

Career progression

On completion of this course, you will gain an RTITB accredited license, demonstrating the skills and knowledge required to operate a counter balance fork truck to an industry leading standard. The certificate will expire in 3 years.

Course dates will be discussed directly with the training provider upon successful completion of funding application. Any course dates arranged with the training provider prior to funding being secured may not be honoured – Course dates will only be confirmed once funding has been approved.
