How to apply

Ready to apply? You’re just five short steps away from securing your place on a course.

Find your perfect course

First, find a course that’s perfect for you. You can search by the name of the course, or just the subject area if you’re not sure exactly what you want to study yet.

Submit the form

Once you’ve decided on a course, click the ‘Apply now‘ button on its information page. There’s a simple form to fill out that only takes a few minutes.

You can apply for a course between October, right up until the course begins the following September.

Come to a Consultation Evening

We’ll invite you to a Consultation Evening with our friendly Admissions Team and a course tutor. This is your chance to ask questions and to make sure the course is right for you. You will also learn about the extra support we can offer you.

If you change your mind at this stage, that’s okay. You can still apply for a different course in exactly the same way.

Receive your offer to study

After the Consultation Evening, we will either offer you a place or suggest a more suitable course for you. You can accept your offer via the Coleg y Cymoedd app or online account.

Turn on notifications in the app to make sure you don’t miss any important updates.

Time to enrol

Term starts at the beginning of September. We’ll send you an invitation and an enrolment pack in August. It will tell you exactly where you need to go and what you need to do to enrol for your course.

You can check the status of your application anytime by using your online application account.

Stick to your appointment times

Slots normally run between 4.30pm and 7.30pm Plan to pop by earlier or stay a bit later if you think you’ll have a lot of questions.

Will I have an interview?

We don’t tend to hold formal interviews. Instead, we’ll give you a timeslot to attend a small group talk about your chosen course.

This is your opportunity to ask the tutor any questions you might have – jot them down so you can ask them at the end. You can also request a one-to-one chat with them if you’d prefer that.

What if I have a question that isn’t about my course, like learning support, grants, or safeguarding?

We’re here to help with whatever you need. Whether you ask us a question online or in person at the course talk, we’ll point you to the person with the right answer.

Who will be at the course talk?

You’ll be greeted by our Admissions Team and they’ll take you to see the course tutor when your group talk is about to start.

You’ll find a full list of the course tutor who are attending on the reception desk. It’s also the place to find details of the support staff who can help you with things like wellbeing or financial information.

How many applications can I make?

You can apply for as many courses as you like. That means you might receive offers for multiple courses at the same time.

But ultimately, you’ll have to decide on the right course for you, and in the end, you can only accept one offer and sign up for one college course.

What if I start my course and don’t like it?

These things happen, and that’s why you have until the end of September to to decide whether you like your course or not.

If it’s not working out, just let us know. We’ll help you figure out a solution, even if that means switching to a different course altogether.

What if I don’t get the grades I need for my chosen course?

If you’re ever in this situation, don’t worry. Our Admissions Team will help you. Just reach out to them. No matter what your grades, there’s a course for you.

Is there a cost to enrol?

All full-time courses are free and there’s just a £15 registration fee. You can even get financial support to study.

How do I accept my course offer?

You can accept an offer on the Coleg y Cymoedd app. Your login details will be sent to you with your course offer. You can also accept in your online account.

It’s free to download the app and it’ll take you through the whole process. Make sure you turn on notifications so we can send you updates on your application.
