Plumbing Learner Continues to Shine with National Recognition

Our Level 3 Plumbing & Heating learner Daniel Roberts is continuing to make an incredible impact after a standout journey since starting college in 2024.

Beginning as a Foundation Plumbing learner at our Ystrad Mynach campus, Dan has gone from strength to strength through his dedication, hard work and passion for the industry. Over the past year, he has achieved competition success, gained national recognition and now earned an invitation to the prestigious Back to Basics Squad UK Selection.

Adding another major achievement to his growing list of accolades, Dan has also been named HIP Magazine Learner of the Year 2026; a fantastic achievement that highlights his talent and commitment to the trade.

Through the invaluable industry experience gained from participating in national competitions, combined with his strong work ethic and passion for plumbing, Dan has secured an apprenticeship with Gibson Technical Services, marking an exciting next step in his growing career and a fantastic achievement for his future in the industry.

Dan’s tutor and Skills Champion at Coleg y Cymoedd, Lee Perry, praised Dan’s achievements and encouraged more learners to take part in skills competitions.

“Dan is a perfect example of how competitions can enrich and enhance your learning experience. We are so proud of how Dan has applied himself with professionalism, skill and determination.”

Lee also added:
