Overview

Cert-ain certified ACS HTRLP2 assessment for closed-flue (room-sealed) gas fires. Confirms competence to install, commission, service and fault-find in line with current gas safety legislation and industry standards/manufacturers’ instructions. Successful completion supports Gas safe registration for this appliance category (scheme rules apply).

What will I learn?

  • Appliance types & principles: room-sealed/balanced & power-flue gas fires, components and safety devices
  • Siting & installation: clearances, hearth/surround considerations, terminals, condensate (where applicable), flue routing & integrity checks
  • Commissioning: gas rate/burner pressure, combustion analysis (FGA), control/safety checks, ventilation verification, user instructions & handover
  • Servicing & maintenance: seals/glass integrity, ignition/electrodes, heat-exchangers, cleaning and replacement parts to MI
  • Fault-finding: systematic diagnosis using readings/symptoms, rectification and re-test
  • Safety & compliance: unsafe situations (ID/AR), warning notices, records & documentation

  • Aged 19+
  • Living in Wales

Plus, one of the following:

  • Employed (inc. agency & zero hour contracts), earning under £34,303
  • Self-employed, earning under £34,303
  • Full-time carer, earning under £34,303
  • Prisoner on day release

Entry requirements

Current/within-window HTRLP2 certificate (per scheme rules).

Assessment

  • Theory: ACS mutli-choice/short answers
  • Practical: Observed tasks on approved rigs – installation/commissioning checks, FGA tests, servicing procedures, fault-finding, and documentation
  • Evidence: Completion of required records; oral questioning where necessary

Career progression

  • Additional ACS appliances: HTR1 (Fires & Space Heaters), CKR1 (Cookers), CENWAT1 (Boilers & Water Heaters), DAH1 (Warm Air)
  • Manufacturer specialist courses (gas fires)
  • Pathways to supervisory/QS roles; renewables/low-temp system design add-ons

Course dates will be discussed directly with the training provider upon successful completion of funding application. Any course dates arranged with the training provider prior to funding being secured may not be honoured – Course dates will only be confirmed once funding has been approved.
