Overview

Cert-ain accredited ACS changeover assessment for operatives moving from Core Natural Gas (CCN1) to Core LPG (CCLP1) – Generic. Confirms competence in domestic LPG core safety and underpins sector modules (e.g. PD, RPH, LAV, Boats). Successful completion supports Gas Safe registration for relevant LPG core categories (scheme rules apply).

What will I learn?

LPG vs NG fundamentals: properties, Wobbe index, pressures, combustion characteristics, CO/CO2 and analyser use (principles)
Storage & supply: cylinders vs bulk tanks, siting and separation distances (overview), changeover valves, single/two-stage regulation
Regulators & protection: OPSO/UPSO operation, over-pressure protection, venting arrangements, emergency procedures
Pipework: materials, external runs, entry points, burial/sleeving, sizing considerations for LPG
Tightness testing & purging: domestic LPG procedures; let-by criteria and records
Ventilation & flueing: terminal positions, integrity checks, combustion/spillage checks (principles)
Unsafe situations: identifying ID/AR/NS, isolation, warning notices and documentation
Documentation & handover: records, labels, user instructions; interface with sector-specific requirements

Prisoner on day release

Entry requirements

Valid CCN1 (Core NG) (initial or re-assessment, within scheme window)

Assessment

Theory: ACS knowledge exam(s) covering LPG core safety
Practical: In-centre observed assessments – tightness/let-by, purging, ventilation/flue checks, unsafe situation procedures and documentation
Supplemental oral questioning where required

Career progression

LPG Installation, servicing, maintenance
Manufacturer product training; supervisory/QS pathways

Course dates will be discussed directly with the training provider upon successful completion of funding application. Any course dates arranged with the training provider prior to funding being secured may not be honoured – Course dates will only be confirmed once funding has been approved.
