Overview

Cert-ain accredited ACS CCLP1 (Core LPG – Generic) assessment covering fundamental safety competences for work on domestic LPG installations and appliances. Successful completion underpins sector modules (e.g. PD – Permanent Dwellings; RPH – Residential Park Homes; LAV – Leisure Accommodation Vehicles; Boats) and supports Gas Safe registration for LPG categories (scheme rules apply)

What will I learn?

  • LPG fundamentals: properties vs Natural Gas, storage types (cylinders/bulk), hazards, ventilation and combustion basics
  • Regulators & safety devices: OPSO/UPSO, changeover valves, regulators, over-pressure protection, emergency procedures
  • Meters & supply arrangements: ECVs, meter positioning/selection checks, bonding/earthing awareness (gas interface)
  • Pipework: materials, routing (including external runs), sizing principles, tightness testing/let-by, purging for LPG installations
  • Flues & chimneys: siting, terminal positions, integrity checks, combustion analysis principles
  • Unsafe situations: identifying ID/AR/At Risk/Not to Current Standards, isolation, warning notices and documentation
  • Documentation & handover: records, labels, user instructions, guidance on sector-specific requirements (PD/RPH/LAV/Boats)

  • Aged 19+
  • Living in Wales

Plus, one of the following:

  • Employed (inc. agency & zero hour contracts), earning under £34,303
  • Self-employed, earning under £34,303
  • Full-time carer, earning under £34,303
  • Prisoner on day release

Entry requirements

  • Current or within-window CCLP1 (per scheme rules)

Assessment

  • Theory: multi-choice/short answers
  • Practical: Observed tasks on approved rigs – tightness testing/let-by, purging (LPG), regulator/OPSO/UPSO checks, ventilation/flue checks, unsafe situations and documentation
  • Professional discussion/oral questioning where required

Career progression

  • Add sector modules: CCLP1 PD, RPH, LAV, Boats (as applicable)
  • Manufacturer courses; supervisory/QS pathways

Course dates will be discussed directly with the training provider upon successful completion of funding application. Any course dates arranged with the training provider prior to funding being secured may not be honoured – Course dates will only be confirmed once funding has been approved.
