Overview

This qualification ensures that candidates are up to date with the latest wiring regulations (BS 7671:2018 Amendment 2, 2022). It is a theory based course designed for electricians and other professionals who work with electrical installations.

Key changes introduced in Amendment 2, including new requirements for: Prosumer installations, Arc fault detection devices (AFDDs), SPDs and RCDs, Inspection and testing documentation

Living in Wales

Plus, one of the following:

Employed (inc. agency & zero hour contracts), earning under £34,303
Self-employed, earning under £34,303
Full-time carer, earning under £34,303
Prisoner on day release

Entry requirements

No formal qualifications required
A basic understanding of electrical principles is recommended
Suitable for practicing electricians, engineers, designers, and other allied professionals

Assessment

Online multiple choice exam (open book)
60 questions to be completed in 2 hours
BS 7671:2018 (Amendment 2) book permitted during the exam

Career progression

Essential qualification for those joining or renewing membership with NICEIC, ELECSA, or NAPIT
Forms the foundation for further qualifications such as 2391 (Inspection and Testing)
Demonstrates compliance with industry standards
