CompTIA A+ is a globally recognised entry-level IT certification that validates hands-on problem-solving skills and the ability to support core technologies like security, networking, and virtualization, making it a trusted credential for launching IT careers and securing technical support roles.
Plus, one of the following:
There are no formal prerequisites for taking the CompTIA A+ certification, making it accessible to beginners. However, it is recommended that candidates have 9-12 months of hands-on experience in the lab or field, or equivalent training, to better prepare for the two required exams (Core 1 and Core 2).
If learners do not have this, it is recommended they start with CompTIA Tech+. Basic computer literacy and familiarity with hardware and software concepts are also helpful.
Core 1 exam:
Closed book multiple choice style exam lasting 90mins. Pass mark is 675 (on a scale of 900)
Core 2 exam:
Closed book multiple choice style exam lasting 90mins. Pass mark is 700 (on a scale of 900)
After earning CompTIA A+, professionals typically begin in roles like IT support or help desk technician. With experience and further certifications such as Network+ or Security+, they can progress into network administration, cybersecurity, or cloud support roles, eventually advancing to positions like systems administrator, cybersecurity analyst, or IT manager.
