Overview

CompTIA Cloud Essentials+ validates the candidate has the knowledge and skills required to make clear and conscious decisions about cloud technologies and their business impact by evaluating business use cases, financial impacts, cloud technologies and deployment models with knowledge of cloud computing.

What will I learn?

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

Explain cloud principles, identify cloud networking concepts and storage techniques, and understand cloud design aspects
Comprehend the financial aspects of engaging a cloud provider, as well as the business aspects of managing vendor relationships in cloud adoptions
Explain aspects of operating within the cloud, such as data management, availability, and monitoring
Understand how DevOps plays a role in cloud environments, such as with provisioning or API integration
Understand risk management concepts related to cloud services and identify the importance and impacts of compliance in the cloud

Entry requirements

6-12 months of work experience as a business analyst in a tech environment, with some exposure to cloud technologies.

The CompTIA Cloud Essentials+ certification provides a strong foundation for understanding cloud computing from a business and operational perspective, making it ideal for professionals who need to evaluate and manage cloud solutions without deep technical expertise. Career progression opportunities include:

Entry-level roles such as Cloud Support Associate, IT Support Specialist, or Junior Business Analyst
Progression to roles like Cloud Business Analyst, Cloud Project Coordinator, or Operations Specialist
Advancement into positions such as Cloud Product Manager, Cloud Governance Specialist, or IT Service Manager
With experience and additional certifications (e.g. CompTIA Cloud+, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner), potential to move into senior roles such as Cloud Program Manager, Head of Cloud Strategy or IT Director

It’s also highly valuable for professionals in finance, marketing, sales, and project management who need to align cloud technologies with business strategies and decision-making.
