Overview

CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+) is a certification for cyber professionals tasked with incident detection, prevention, and response through continuous security monitoring. This course introduces tools and tactics to manage cybersecurity risks, identify various types of common threats, evaluate the organisation’s security, collect, and analyse cybersecurity intelligence, and handle incidents as they occur. This course includes the CySA+ (CS0-003) exam voucher, taken post class.

What will I learn?

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Detect and analyse indicators of malicious activity
  • Understand threat hunting and threat intelligence concepts
  • Use appropriate tools and methods to manage, prioritise and respond to attacks and vulnerabilities
  • Perform incident response processes
  • Understand reporting and communication concepts related to vulnerability management and incident response activities

Entry requirements

Prior to this course, it is recommended learners hold CompTIA Network+ and CompTIA Security+ certifications or have the equivalent knowledge.

This course is suited to Security Analyst Security Operations Centre (SOC) Analyst, Incident Response Analyst, Vulnerability Management Analyst, Security Engineer.

Assessment

  • Exam time: 165 minutes
  • Multiple choice style: 85 questions
  • Pass mark: 750 (on a scale of 100-900)
  • Closed book exam (i.e. no reference materials are allowed during the exam)

The CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+) certification is a recognised intermediate credential that paves the way for advancing within defensive cybersecurity roles.

Career progression opportunities include:

  • Cybersecurity Analyst, SOC Analyst, or Vulnerability Analyst (technical, specialist roles)
  • Progression to positions such as Security Engineer, Threat Intelligence Analyst, or Incident Response Analyst
  • Advancement into roles like Senior Security Analyst, Security Operations Manager, or Team Lead for Security Operations Centre (SOC)
  • With additional certifications and experience – such as PenTest+, CASP+/SecurityX, or vendor-specific cloud security credentials – you could move into leadership roles like Security Architect, Cybersecurity Consultant, or Director of Security
