Overview

CompTIA Network+ is a vendor-neutral certification that validates essential networking skills, including setup, maintenance, troubleshooting, and securing networks across platforms. Unlike broader or vendor-specific certifications, it focuses on hands-on, practical skills needed by network engineers, covering both on-premises and cloud networking tools in its latest version (N10-009)

What will I learn?

Design, configure, and troubleshoot wired and wireless networks
Understand and implement network security protocols and best practices
Identify and mitigate common network issues using appropriate tools
Support network infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments
Apply IP addressing, routing, and subnetting concepts
Ensure network availability and performance for business continuity

Entry requirements

There are no formal prerequisites for taking the CompTIA Network+ certification exam. However, it is strongly recommended that candidates have earned the CompTIA A+ certification and have 9-12 months of networking experience to ensure they are well-prepared for the exam’s technical content.

Assessment

Closed book multiple choice exam lasting 90mins. Total of 90 questions, with a 720 pass mark (on a scale of 100-900).

Career progression

After earning CompTIA Network+, professionals can begin careers as network administrators, support specialists, or IT technicians. With experience and additional certifications like Security+ or Server+, they can advance to roles such as network engineer, systems administrator, or cybersecurity analyst. Over time, this can lead to senior positions like IT infrastructure manager or network architect.
