Overview

CompTIA Security+ is designed to fully prepare participants for the SY0-701 certification exam, which is included in the program. This certification validates the ability to install and configure secure systems, analyse and respond to threats, implement risk mitigation strategies, and operate with a strong understanding of cybersecurity policies, laws, and regulations.

Employed (inc. agency & zero hour contracts),
Self-employed,
Full-time carer,
Prisoner on day release

Entry requirements

There are no formal prerequisites for taking the CompTIA Security+ certification exam. However, it is recommended that candidates have CompTIA Network+ certification and at least 2 years of experience in IT with a focus on security to better understand the exam content and succeed.

Assessment

Closed book multiple choice style exam lasting 90mins. Pass mark is 750 (on a scale of 900)

Career progression

After earning CompTIA Security+, professionals can pursue roles such as security administrator, systems administrator, or network security specialist. With experience and further certifications, such as CompTIA CySA+, they can advance to positions like cybersecurity analyst, penetration tester, or security engineer, eventually progressing to senior roles such as security manager or CISO.
