Overview

This hands-on training prepares participants for the CompTIA SecurityX certification exam and equips security professionals with the knowledge required to design, implement, and manage secure solutions in complex enterprise environments. The course explores security architecture, risk management, incident response, and emerging technologies including AI and cloud-based systems. Participants will benefit from a mix of theoretical instruction, real-world scenarios, and virtual lab practice.

  • Design and implement resilient, secure system architectures across enterprise environments
  • Manage governance, compliance, and threat modelling aligned to security frameworks
  • Apply cryptographic and cloud security principles within secure deployment pipelines
  • Monitor enterprise systems to detect threats and automate remediation
  • Use threat intelligence, incident response, and root cause analysis in live scenarios
  • Align enterprise security strategies with AI trends, Zero Trust, and modern compliance needs

  • Living in Wales

Plus, one of the following:

  • Employed (inc. agency & zero hour contracts)
  • Self-employed
  • Full-time carer
  • Prisoner on day release

Entry requirements

Minimum of 10 years of general hands-on IT experience, including 5 years of hands-on security, with Network+, Security+, CySA+, Cloud+, and PenTest+ or equivalent knowledge.

Assessment

  • Mixture of multiple-choice and performance-based questions
  • Maximum of 90 questions
  • 165 minutes
  • Pass or fail – no scaled score
  • Closed book

Career progression

The CompTIA SecurityX certification is an advanced credential for experienced cybersecurity professionals and provides a pathway to senior technical and leadership roles in security. Career progression opportunities include:

  • Senior Security Engineer or Security Analyst (advanced technical roles)
  • Progression to Security Architect, SOC Manager, or Cyber Risk Analyst
  • Advancement into roles like Technical Lead Analyst, Application Security Engineer, or Security Operations Manager
  • With experience and additional certifications (e.g. CISSP, CISM), potential to move into senior leadership roles such as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), Director of Security, or Head of Cybersecurity

It’s also highly valuable for professionals working in cloud security, enterprise architecture, and risk management, where advanced security expertise is critical.
