Overview

This BPEC-accredited course is designed for installers who want to be trained and assessed in the installation, inspection, testing, commissioning, and provision of information for domestic ventilation systems in accordance with Part F of the Building Regulations. It is suitable for those working in new build or retrofit environments and meets the competence requirements for Competent Person Schemes and PAS 2035 retrofit projects.

What will I learn?

The four types of domestic ventilation system (Systems 1-4)
Ventilation principles, air flow rates, and indoor air quality
Legal and regulatory requirements including Building Regulations Part F
Installation practices for extractor fans, MVHR (mechanical ventilation with heat recovery), and other ventilation systems
Commissioning, testing, balancing, and reporting procedures
How to complete documentation and provide user information
Health & safety considerations and common installation issues

Aged 19+
Living in Wales

Plus, one of the following:

Employed (inc. agency & zero hour contracts)
Self-employed
Full-time carer
Prisoner on day release

Entry requirements

No formal prerequisites.

Assessment

Multiple choice theory assessment. Practical assessment, including commissioning and flow rate testing. Completion of commissioning documentation and installer checklists.

Career progression

Become a certified domestic ventilation installer
Eligible to register with Competent Person Schemes
Contribute to PAS 2035 retrofit projects
Further training in low-carbon technologies, insulation, or renewable heating systems

Course dates will be discussed directly with the training provider upon successful completion of funding application. Any course dates arranged with the training provider prior to funding being secured may not be honoured – Course dates will only be confirmed once funding has been approved.
