Overview

This certification is designed for developers who build cloud-native applications using Azure Cosmos DB. It focuses on designing, implementing, and monitoring solutions that store and manage data using the Azure Cosmos DB for NoSQL API. Learners will gain expertise in writing efficient queries, creating indexing policies, provisioning and managing resources, and integrating Cosmos DB with other Azure services. The course also covers performance optimisation, data distribution strategies, and implementing secure and resilient solutions.

What will I learn?

After completing this course, you will be able to design and implement non-relational data models, develop partitioning strategies, optimise query performance, manage indexing policies, and integrate Cosmos DB with services like Azure Functions and Azure Synapse Link. You will also learn to use SDKs for data access, implement server-side programming with JavaScript, and apply consistency models and conflict resolution strategies.

Entry requirements

Candidates should have experience developing applications for Azure and working with Azure Cosmos DB technologies. Familiarity with SQL queries, JSON, C# or Java, PowerShell, and server-side programming with JavaScript is recommended. You should also be comfortable provisioning and managing Azure resources.

Assessment

The exam code is DP-420. It is a 100-minute proctored exam with a pass mark of 700 out of 1000. The exam includes scenario-based and interactive components.

Career progression

This certification qualifies professionals for roles such as Azure Cosmos DB Developer, Cloud Application Developer, or Data Engineer. With further experience and certifications, individuals can progress to senior roles like Cloud Solutions Architect or Azure Data Architect.
