Overview

This certification is designed for Azure administrators with subject matter expertise in planning, delivering, and managing virtual desktop experiences and remote apps on Microsoft Azure. It focuses on deploying and optimising Windows Virtual Desktop environments for any device. Learners will gain skills in implementing networking, managing session hosts, configuring storage for FSLogix components, and securing access using Azure roles and RBAC. The course also covers business continuity, disaster recovery, and performance monitoring for Azure Virtual Desktop infrastructures.

What will I learn?

After completing this course, you will be able to plan and implement an Azure Virtual Desktop infrastructure, manage access and security, configure user environments and applications, monitor and maintain performance, and automate management tasks using PowerShell and Azure CLI. You will also learn to select appropriate licensing models and integrate on-premises virtual desktop infrastructure technologies with Azure.

Entry requirements

Candidates should have expert-level Azure administration skills and experience with virtualisation, networking, identity, storage, backups, resilience, and disaster recovery. Familiarity with Azure portal, ARM templates, PowerShell, and CLI is recommended. Understanding of on-premises virtual desktop infrastructure technologies is also beneficial.

Assessment

The exam code is AZ-140. It is a 100 minute proctored exam with a pass mark of 700 out of 1000. The exam includes scenario-based and interactive components.

Career progression

This certification qualifies professionals for roles such as Azure Virtual Desktop Administrator, Cloud Desktop Engineer, or Remote App Deployment Specialist. With further experience and certifications, individuals can progress to senior roles like Cloud Infrastructure Architect or Head of Virtual Desktop Strategy.
