Overview
The Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate certification is designed for professionals who manage identity and access solutions using Microsoft Entra ID. This course prepares learners to design, implement, and operate identity and access management systems across users, devices, Azure resources, and applications. it focuses on modernising identity solutions, implementing hybrid identity environments, and applying identity governance strategies. Learners will gain practical experience in configuring secure authentication and authorisation, enabling seamless user experiences, and supporting self-service capabilities.
What will I learn?
After completing this course, learners will be able to implement identity and access management using Microsoft Entra ID, manage user identities, configure authentication and access controls, plan and implement workload identities, and apply identity governance strategies. The course also covers troubleshooting, monitoring, and reporting on identity and access environments. Learners will understand how to collaborate across organisational roles to drive strategic identity projects and ensure compliance with Zero Trust principles.

While there are no mandatory prerequisites, learners are expected to have a solid understanding of security best practices such as defense in depth, least privilege and the Zero Trust model. Familiarity with identity concepts including authentication, authorisation, and Active Directory is recommended. Experience with deploying Azure workloads and basic knowledge of Windows or Linux operating systems and scripting languages like PowerShell or CLI will be beneficial. Prior completion of Microsoft Security, Compliance and Identity Fundamentals (SC900) is advised.
The SC-300 exam is a proctored certification assessment lasting approximately 100 minutes. It includes interactive components and requires a minimum score of 700 out of 1000 to pass. The exam evaluates skills in implementing and managing user identities, authentication and access management, workload identities, and identity governance
Professionals who earn this certification can pursue roles such as Identity and Access Administrator, Security Engineer, or Microsoft Entra Specialist. With further experience and certifications, career paths may lead to senior roles like Cloud Security Architect, Identity Governance Lead, or Head of IT Security.
