Overview

The Microsoft Certified: Power Automate RPA Developer Associate certification is designed for professionals who automate time-consuming and repetitive tasks using Microsoft Power Automate. This course prepares learners to analyse, design, develop, and deploy automation solutions using both desktop and cloud flows. Candidates will learn to work with UI, API, and database automation approaches, and integrate Power Automate with other Microsoft Power Platform tools such as Dataverse, Power Apps, and AI Builder. The course also covers scripting with VBScript and JavaScript, using the .NET Framework for custom actions, and collaborating with business stakeholders and administrators to optimize workflows and support deployment across environments.

What will I learn?

After completing this course, learners will be able to design and develop automation solutions using Power Automate, implement desktop and cloud flows, integrate with external APIs and services, and manage automation infrastructure. They will gain skills in exception handling, secure data management, and using custom connectors. The course also teaches how to build and manage machine groups for unattended desktop flow execution, apply data loss prevention policies, and analyse flow run history for performance optimization.

Entry requirements

Candidates should have experience with the Windows desktop environment, scripting languages such as VBScript and JavaScript, and the .NET Framework. Familiarity with Microsoft Dataverse, JSON, REST and SOAP services, and Power Platform tools like Power Apps and AI Builder is recommended. Basic knowledge of automation design principles and business process documentation will support success in this course.

Assessment

The PL-500 exam is a proctored certification assessment that lasts approximately 100 minutes. It includes interactive components and requires a minimum score of 700 out of 1000 to pass. The exam evaluates skills in designing, developing, deploying, and managing automation solutions using Power Automate.

Career progression

Professionals who earn this certification can pursue roles such as RPA Developer, Automation Consultant, or Power Platform Specialist. With further experience and certifications, career paths may lead to senior roles like Automation Architect, Digital Transformation Lead, or Head of Process Automation.
