Candidates should ideally hold the Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals Certification.
Candidates applying to undertake this programme should possess a reasonable level of data literacy and be comfortable interpreting charts and graphs.
If applicants intend to complete any part of this programme online they should ensure that they have a device that is capable of downloading and running the latest desktop version of Microsoft Power BI. The device should

Laptops can be provided to participants who attend the programme in-person.
Exam lasting 100 minutes.
Participants who complete this programme will be able to undertake further Microsoft Certifications after achieving their Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst certification. Alternatively they could complete an advanced visualisation programme in Python or R.

The Power BI Data Analyst Associate certification is based on key competencies required to effectively analyse data with Power BI. The course covers four key content domains:
- Prepare the Data: Connecting to data sources, cleaning and transforming data, and managing data storage.
- Model the Data: Designing and developing a data model, optimising the model for performance, and creating calculated columns and measures.
- Visualize and Analyse the Data: Creating reports and dashboards, enhancing reports with advanced visualisations, and analysing data using Power BI features.
- Deploy and Maintain Assets: Deploying and sharing reports and dashboards, managing workspaces, and implementing security standards.
