Candidates should ideally hold the Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals Certification.
Candidates applying to undertake this programme should possess a reasonable level of data literacy and be comfortable interpreting charts and graphs.
If applicants intend to complete any part of this programme online they should ensure that they have a device that is capable of downloading and running the latest desktop version of Microsoft Power BI. The device should

Exam lasting 100 minutes.
Participants who complete this programme will be able to undertake further Microsoft Certifications after achieving their Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst certification. Alternatively they could complete an advanced visualisation programme in Python or R.

What will I learn?
After completing this course, learners will be able to ingest, clean, and transform data; model data for performance and scalability; design and create reports for data analysis; apply and perform advanced report analytics; and manage and share report assets. They will also gain experience with DAX functions, row-level security, workspace management, and dashboard creation. The course includes modules on optimizing model performance, implementing semantic models, and using Copilot for Power BI to generate summaries and visuals.

There are no strict prerequisites for this course, but learners are encouraged to have a basic understanding of data analysis concepts, including data tables, relationships, and common visualization types. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel functions such as pivot tables and formulas is advantageous. Experience with data sources like SQL databases or Excel files, and general IT knowledge including file systems and networking, will support success. Prior exposure to Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service is helpful but not mandatory.
The PL-300 exam is a proctored certification assessment that lasts approximately 100 minutes. It includes interactive components and requires a minimum score of 700 out of 1000 to pass. The exam evaluates skills in preparing data, modelling data, visualizing and analysing data, and managing and securing Power BI environments
Professionals who earn this certification can pursue roles such as Power BI Analyst, Business Intelligence Developer, or Data Visualization Specialist. With further experience and certifications like Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate or Azure Data Engineer Associate, career paths may lead to senior roles such as BI Manager, Data Analytics Lead, or Head of Business Intelligence/
