Overview

The PRINCE2 Foundation course introduces participants to the globally recognised PRINCE2 project management methodology. Over three interactive days, learners explore the five key elements – project context, principles, practices, processes, and people – with a strong focus on real-world application. The course reflects modern project needs by incorporating topics like sustainability, data and commercial management, and people-centric leadership. Through hands-on exercises, case studies, and exam practice, participants gain the skills to confidently apply and tailor PRINCE2 to projects of any size or complexity.

What will I learn?

  • Understand how to apply PRINCE2 in different project contexts, considering factors like size, complexity, and industry
  • Apply the seven PRINCE2 principles that guide effective project management
  • Recognise the importance of people in projects and manage stakeholder needs, motivations, and relationships
  • Consistently implement the seven project management practices that form the core of PRINCE2
  • Follow the seven lifecycle processes from project initiation to closure, understanding roles, responsibilities, and key activities at each stage

  • Employed (inc. agency & zero hour contracts), earning under £34,303
  • Self-employed, earning under £34,303
  • Full-time carer, earning under £34,303

Entry requirements

There are no formal pre-requisites for PRINCE2 Foundation, but course attendees would benefit from some prior experience of working in projects. If this is the participants first Project Management qualification, it is recommended learners begin with Agile Project Management, with a view to progressing onto PRINCE2.

Assessment

Closed book multiple choice exam, lasting 60mins. 60 questions in total, requiring 36 marks to pass (60%)

Career progression

The PRINCE2 certification supports career progression into roles such as Project Coordinator, Project Manager, and Programme Manager, and can lead to senior positions like Portfolio Manager, or Head of Projects. With experience and further qualifications (e.g. PRINCE2 Practitioner), professionals can expand into specialised or leadership roles across a wide range of industries.

Course dates will be discussed directly with the training provider upon successful completion of funding application. Any course dates arranged with the training provider prior to funding being secured may not be honoured – Course dates will only be confirmed once funding has been approved.

Participants must have successfully completed the PRINCE2 Foundation 7th Edition certification as a prerequisite for enrolling in the Practitioner course.

Assessment

Open book multiple choice exam, lasting 150mins. 70 questions in total, requiring 42 marks to pass (60%)

Career progression

The PRINCE2 Practitioner certification enables professionals to advance into more senior project management roles such as Project Manager, Programme Manager, or PMO Lead. It demonstrates the ability to apply and tailor the PRINCE2 methodology to complex, real-world projects, making it highly valued across industries. With experience and additional qualifications, it can also lead to strategic leadership positions like Portfolio Manager or Head of Projects.
