Coleg y Cymoedd Achieves White Ribbon Accreditation
10 March 2026Coleg y Cymoedd has achieved White Ribbon Accreditation, marking an important step in the college’s commitment to promoting respect, equality and safety across its community.
White Ribbon is an internationally recognised campaign working to end men’s violence against women and girls by challenging harmful attitudes and supporting positive cultural change across organisations in England and Wales.
The accreditation builds on ongoing work at Coleg y Cymoedd to tackle misogyny and promote respectful relationships. This includes learner-led activity delivered with She Is Not Your Rehab and wider sector collaboration through Taith-funded projects, including membership of a Community of Practice with colleagues across Wales and Canada.
Earlier this year, Assistant Principal Lisa Purcell also presented at a Taith Pathway 2 sector event, sharing learning from the UK and Canada to support sector-wide responses to Estyn’s 2023 report on peer-on-peer sexual harassment in further education.
The college’s White Ribbon work is being led by Deke Williams, Engagement Champion, and will form part of a three-year action plan focused on staff training, learner engagement and cultural change.
Principal Jonathan Morgan, said: “White Ribbon Accreditation is an important step in strengthening our culture of respect, equality and safety at Coleg y Cymoedd. It reflects the collective efforts of our staff and learners to challenge misogyny, promote healthy relationships and stand firmly against violence towards women and girls. This accreditation marks the beginning of a sustained programme of action and learning across our college community.”
Achieving accreditation marks the start of a three-year action plan, including White Ribbon Ambassador and Champion training for staff and continued learner engagement as part of the college’s wider safeguarding and wellbeing work.
